Southwest State authority on Monday issued measures which are aimed at ensuring the overall security of Baidoa. Southwest state security minister, Hassan Abdikadir Mohamed presided over a meeting held in the town. The meeting focused the armed forces to maximize their efforts in maintaining the security of the town. The meeting saw the attendance of officers of the security agencies.
They discussed ways to prevent al-shabab attacks in the town. During the meeting, important points were issued concerning the security agencies in which they will maintain the security of Baidoa with iron grip. Southwest state authority has banned the use of motorbikes in Baidoa. They said that motorbikes are used to commit crimes which pose a threat to the security of the town. The Administration has also banned residents from driving cars late at night in the town.
The objective behind the ban of the traffic at night is that the security forces to remain vigilant and to prevent Al-Shabab attacks in Baidoa. The administration further said that those who do not comply with the measures and drive a car in the town late at night without the consent of the security forces will be brought before the law. Southwest State authority banned auto rickshaws from the town starting from 7 pm to 6 am in the morning. The authority in Baidoa enforced the ban 7 years ago. Auto rickshaws are the only mode of transpiration in Baidoa.
