Armed assailants shot dead two civilians in Galkayo yesterday. Those killed were returning from a tourist center that lies in the outskirts of Galkayo.
They opened fire to a vehicle where the driver and a woman were on board, and they escaped from the area after committing the murder.
The motive of their killing is not known: However, reports say that the target was the driver of the vehicle. It is reported that the incident is linked with a retaliatory killings.
The driver of the vehicle who was killed was named Saed Guure Ali Baar and was well-known taxi driver in Galkayo town. The woman who was also killed was named Anab Burhan Mohamed.
Mudug regional authority and security agencies failed to deal with the revenge killings which have increased with an alarming rate in the province.
A couple of months ago, two businessmen were murdered in what has been interpreted as a revenge killings that took place in Bursaalah settlement in Mudug region.
One of the murdered business man was the manager of Golis Telecommunication Company in Buursalah settlement.
Reports say that the reason why the revenge killings occur is that the perpetrators are brought before the justice and escape from the scene after committing the murder.
It is expected that Puntland regional President is due to make changes to the administration of security agencies in Mudug province.
