Somalia has threatened to take diplomatic action against the United Arab Emirates following the invitation of UAE by Somaliland President in attending the World Governments Summit that was held in Dubai.

This was disclosed by Somalia’s FM, Ahmed Moalin Fiqi.

The FM said: ” Somaliland is a region that is part and parcel of Somalia. When it comes to the grievances that Somaliland have, we need to resolve through negotiations.”

The FM reiterated Somalia’s stance and repeated that Somaliland is part of the greater Somalia.

Earlier this month, President Irro was given the chance to address at the summit and called on the Int’l community to recognize Somaliland as an independent state.

Somalia downplayed the visit, comparing it to tips embarked by other regional leaders in Somalia to the UAE.

Fiqi said that Somalia won’t ignore what it sees as a violation to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Somalia.

The minister has not so far disclosed what steps Somalia will take but repeated that Somalia will take measures to address the ties with the UAE
