Somali Ministry of Finance and the Int’l Monetary Fund (IMF) held a high level meeting in Nairobi. The focus of the meeting is to develop Somalia’s economy and to lure investments to the development of Somalia’s sources of production.
The minister of finance of Somali Federal Gov’t, Bihi Iman Egge was leading the delegates from Somalia that were in attendance of the high level meeting.
Representatives from the offices of the President, the Prime Minister, the ministries and agencies in finances, planning, petroleum, the Central Bank. National Financing reporting, National Statistics office and the Auditor General’s office were in attendance of the meeting.
The meeting which is due to last for four days. During the meeting, the attendees will discuss what Somalia has so far achieved since Somali received debt forgiveness.
They will also discuss plans in regard to Somalia’s economic development and to seek investment for the development projects which will pave the way for economic self-sufficiency.
The minister of finance who made the opening remarks at the meeting elaborated in detail the efforts of the Somali gov’t in regard to reforming and modernizing the sources of revenues. He said that the reforms and the modernization of sources of revenues are in the right track which will lead to financial development.
