President Irro: “I urge Djibouti and Somalia to prioritize peace and good neighborly relations.”

Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro has disclosed that the country is facing hostility and foreign interference from neighboring countries. Specifically, he has called on the governments of Djibouti and Somalia to respect the principles of good neighborliness and maintain peace and stability in the region. During the Ei-al-Adha occasion, President Irro emphasized that Somaliland’s foreign policy is based on peaceful coexistence and respect for its neighbors. He stated, “While many countries have shown hostility towards Somaliland, we have not caused harm to anyone. Our policy is founded on good neighborliness and peace.” The President also revealed that Somaliland has been subjected to constant meddling, but the country has the power and experience to defend itself against any threats to its security and existence. He further stated, “We are urging Djibouti and Somalia to respect the peace and good neighborliness of neighboring states. Somaliland has the right to defend itself against any interference imposed upon it.” President Irro also urged the people to protect the stability and unity of Somaliland, emphasizing that it is a peaceful place. However, relations between Djibouti and Somaliland have been strained following Somaliland’s diplomatic engagement with Israel.
