Public transport drivers have taken to the streets for the third day of consecutive demonstrations, halting traffic at the main avenues in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

The drivers are complaining about main avenues in the capital blocked by the government and increasing taxes levied upon them –which have lowered their earnings.

The protesters urged the government to pay heed to their complaints by removing blockades from the main avenues in the capital and reducing taxes imposed upon the public transport drivers.

The Somali government has not yet answered the demands of the protesting drivers, but the public transport drivers have blocked roads with stones to halt traffic in parts of the capital, urging a quick government consideration to their complaints.
