Somaliland national exams have officially commenced on Saturday under close supervision of both the education ministry and council for exams as this year is different from the past.

The number of students siting for this year’s exams are less compared to last year because this only high school students have been allowed to sit for the national exams over fears of the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus pandemic in Somaliland.

Primary and intermediate students will not participate the exams.

The ministry of education has said that they will be assessed with their past exams.

Somaliland’s National Examination Board who addressed to the press during the distribution of question papers have said that around thousand teachers and another thousand police officers were posted to be responsible for exam invigilation and security.

This year the exam will take only one day and students will take ten subjects.

The government has allocated 200 venues for the national exams to take place this year.

The government has not yet officially fixed a clear date for the results to be out but candidates are hopeful that the results will be expected within the upcoming two months.
