Hirshabelle regional parliament which held its session on Tuesday has stripped their parliamentary status from three MP’s.
The Speaker of the regional parliament, Mr. Abdihakin Luqman Haji Mohamed chaired the session which saw the attendance of 75 members of the parliament.
The Ethics Committee submitted a motion to Hirshabelle parliament which demanded that the three MP’s must be expelled from the parliament.
31 MP’s have signed the motion to strip the status from the MP’s who were accused of breaching the constitution and parliamentary bylaws.
The 71 MP’s have voted in favor of expelling the MP’s named Saadaq Mukhtar Abdulle, Ahmed Saneey Mohamed and Ahmed Ali Abuukar from the parliament.
Three MP’s have rejected the motion while an MP has abstained.
The speaker of the parliament, Abdihakin Luqman has officially announced that the three MP’s have lost their parliamentary seats according to Hirshabelle parliamentary bylaws.
The speaker has informed the communities that the three MP’s represented to fill the vacant seats in line with the constitution.
The three MP’s expelled from Hirshabelle regional parliament held ministerial posts but had a fallout with Hirshabelle regional president Ali Guudlaawe.
