The Chinese Gov’t has strongly condemned the growing bilateral ties between Somaliland and Taiwan.
The Chinese gov’t said that the administration in Hargeisa was pressurized to further strengthen the ties with Taipei.
Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu, who gave an interview to a local media in Mogadishu reiterated that Taiwan is part and parcel of the Greater people’s of China.
Wang Yu said: ” There is only China in this world, and Taiwan is part of China that cannot break away from the rest of China. There are many countries that are spearheading efforts to unite Taiwan and China. That is the reality on the ground.
He went on to say that the Chinese gov’t condemned with the strongest possible terms and sent a stern warning to Somaliland pertaining to the growing bilateral ties between Somaliland and Taiwan.
Wang Yu said that Taiwan has links with the administration in Hargeisa and campaigns for the region to break away from the rest of Somalia. He added that he strongly condemns the consolidating ties between the two regions.
He further said that the Chinese gov’t has taken steps to prevent Somaliland and that China and Somalia are in a position to consolidate their ties based on mutual interests including the unity and the territorial integrity of China and Somalia.
He disclosed that China stands with Somalia when it comes to protecting the greater republic of Somalia’s territorial integrity and its sovereignty.
The Incumbent Somaliland President H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi alias Irro told recently that his administration is keen to enhance the growing ties with Taiwan.
