The policy of the government is to have all regional airports and airstrips well functioning.
This was expressed by the Head of the Somaliland Civil Aviation Authority Mr. Omar Sayid when he toured the Burao airport in Togdeer region where works of renovating and reconstructions has been going on.
The purpose of his visit was to inspect and monitor about the renovation and repair works so that it can resume operations.
The director of Burao Airport Abdirisaaq Noor Araale said that the airport is staffed by trained personnel from Ethiopia, and that a modern communication system that can communicate with the planes in the Horn of Africa has been installed. The landing area of Burao Airport has been increased by 600 meters, an expansion the airport needed very much.
Mr. Omar Sayid Abdillahi said that the policy of the country’s Aviation Authority and Airports to seeing to it that the local airports are functional is in process with the Erigavo having been accomplished.
