Somaliland President receives first shot of historic COVAX

Somaliland has launched a vaccination campaign against the novel corona virus disease days after taking delivery of the historic first shipment of the COVAX vaccines. The President of the republic of Somaliland H.E Musa Bihi Abdi has received first shots of the vaccine against the deadly coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday. This makes him to be the first person to receive his vaccination in SL as the health authorities have expressed their concern over the sharp rise of the number of people who contract the virus for the past couple of days. The Head of State has called on the public to get their vaccination in order to keep the spread of the virus at bay. The president’s remarks coincides after speculations were circulated claiming that AztraZeneca may cause blood clot to recipients. Bihi previously asserted that he will be the first person to get Covid-19 vaccination once it arrives in the country so as to save lifes. A vaccine roll-out plan has been put together to inoculate over 65000 of the population. This phase which is the first is targeting persons ‘most at risk.  This group includes healthcare workers, frontline security personnel, and persons 60 years and above. At the same time the Heads of National Political Parties have also been vaccinated against the deadly Covid-19.
