HARGEISA–The minister responsible for public works & housing has convened with Hargeisa local Councillors today. The minister met with the mayor and deputy mayor of Hargeisa. The media were barred from attending the gathering. The mayor of Hargeisa, Hon. Abdirahman Aidid Soltelco and the Director General of the public works ministry, Hon. Elmi Abdirahma Ashur jointly briefed the media about the issues that they have discussed.
Hargeisa Local council and the Public Works Ministry have agreed upon the following:-
- From now on that the Public works ministry will be in attendance once the local municipality will plan the farming lands.
- Hills and dry rivers will be recognized as public lands.
- A new working ties to commence for the local council and the ministry of public works.
The minister in charge of public works and housing, Hon. Abdirashid Du’ale Qambi has said that there will be a joint technical committees from Hargeisa municipality and the ministry. The public will donate 30 percent of their farming lands to the gov’t as the constitution stipulates. The long standing dispute that the ministry of public works locked horns with the local council has been settled.
