Somaliland: Gov’t is reviewing to change the Juvenile Law

The Justice minister Honorable Abdirisak ALi Abdi on Sunday has launched a two day meeting which is aimed at revisions of the Juvenile Law.

The Juvenile Law was established in 2007 and the parliament in Somaliland passed it as a law.

The law number 36/2007 is intended to protest the rights of minors in Somaliland that have committed serious crimes and to provide the right care.

The Juvenile department at the justice ministry under the auspices of UNICEF have organized the meeting.

Several gov’t institutions including the home affairs ministry, the health, education, labor ministries, custodial corps and Somaliland lawyers association as well as social organizations are in attendance.
