Somalia hope to reopen Port of Mogadishu with foreign investment

The Port of Mogadishu was a major transit route for European traders since the 1960s, but was shut down after war broke out in 1991.

 

In the 1960s, the Port of Mogadishu was a major transit route for European traders.

By 1991, it was shut down after war had broke out in the region.

Since then, the government has been trying to encourage international investors to help rebuild the hub.

TRT World‘s Adesewa Josh visited the port and says the plan may finally be paying off.
