The Somali Federal Gov’t in conjunction with int’l partners carried out airstrikes targeting two Al-Shabab weapon facilities in Adan Yabaal district in Middle Shabelle province.
The airstrikes targeted Al-Shabab facilities in which they store weapons and prepare explosive laden vehicles which precisely took place in Howlwadaag village.
The Somali Federal Gov’t said that the two facilities have been destroyed and the raid took place as intended.
Somali military officers told that one of the facilities erupted into flames during the raid, suggesting the presence of volatile materials or pre-rigged car bombs.
Tension is reported to be running high in Adan Yabaal district, but details of the casualties in the aftermath of the airstrike are not clear.
The Somali Federal Gov’t in conjunction with int’l partners on last Friday conducted an airstrike which targeted a residential house in which senior Al-Shabab leaders and fighters were staying.
12 Al-Shabab fighters including senior leaders were killed in the airstrike.
Reports say that the residential house was a strategic facility in which they used to store weapons, plan attacks and store other military equipment.
According to the Somali Federal Gov’t, the raid precisely occurred as it intended.
