Jubaland regional President, Ahmed Mohamed Islam alias Ahmed Madobe on Sunday arrived in Garowe, the administrative seat of Puntland regional administration.
Puntland regional President, Sead Abdilahi Deni received Ahmed Madobe upon arrival at Garowe Airport. As Jubaland and Puntland administrations are locked horns with the Somali Federal Gov’t; the two regional leaders are due to hold a meeting in Garowe, and is expected to form a political alliance. One of the top priorities of Ahmed Madobe and Sead Deni is to forge closer ties between the two regional administrations in order to fully cooperate on issues pertaining to the election row and the security challenges in Somalia.
The proposed talks are expected to strengthen the cooperation between the two sides and rebuild the political trust between the two sides and to deal with the constraints that the Somali Federal system is faced with. The two leaders are aligned who campaign for the decentralization of Federal system.
Their alliance will exert a political pressure in the power grab in Villa Somalia. The duo used to strongly criticize the administration led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. They point out that the central gov’t makes decisions without the consultation of regional administrations.
