Somali President Meets with Djibouti counterpart

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Wednesday held high level talks with the President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh.

The two leaders discussed ways to consolidate the brotherly and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

The two Heads of States also discussed ways to further continue the strategic relationship in the areas of security, trade, economy and politics.

The two leaders lauded the bilateral ties the cooperation between the two countries which is based on brotherhood and the mutual interests of the people of Djibouti and Somalia.

The Somali President has expressed deep thanks and appreciations to the people of Djibouti the active role they play when it comes to the pacification efforts, development, and the constant support Djibouti provides to Somalia.

He particularly thanked Djibouti for the role it plays when it comes to fight against the militant group of Al-shabab.

On his side, Djibouti President, Ismail Omar Guelleh, stated that Djibouti is committed to stand by when it comes to their Somali brothers.

He reiterated that Djibouti will step up the support it provides to Somalia particularly in the fight against extremist groups, and rebuilding and upgrading the quality of Somalia’s security agencies.
