The Somali government troops have successfully conducted a planned operation in the Hanti Wadaag area of the Lower Shabelle region, eliminating two members of Al-Shabab, according to a statement issued by the defense ministry of Somalia. The operation specifically targeted Al-Shabab leader Abuu Abdalla, who has been involved in organizing and carrying out acts of insecurity against civilians for a prolonged period of time. The statement also mentions that the eliminated leader played a significant role in planning and coordinating Al-Shabab activities. The bodyguard of the leader was also killed during the operation. The ministry of defense of Somalia stated that this operation is part of their ongoing efforts to target leaders and fighters of Al-Shabab in order to degrade and prevent their attacks against the Somali people. The ministry further stated that the Somali forces will continue to carry out operations against Al-Shabab while also working towards eradicating the group and maintaining security and stability in the country. In a separate operation, the Somali forces targeted the Al-Shabab group in Jabad Carbeyd and Dabagaab areas of the Middle Shabelle province. According to a statement, the operation was carried out by the 195 battalion of the 19th brigade-Gorgor Command unit. The purpose of this operation was to strengthen security and prevent future attacks by Al-Shabab in the region. Somali officers stated that this operation is part of their ongoing efforts to pursue fleeing Al-Shabab elements who have been accused of disrupting peace and stability in the country. The Somali forces have recently intensified their military operations in the Middle Shabelle region, targeting areas where armed militant groups are known to be hiding.
