Yesterday morning, Irish Chargé d’Affaires, Lisa Doherty met with Ambassador Bashe Awil Omar, Representative of Somaliland to Kenya and Head of the Somaliland Liaison Office in Nairobi.
The pair discussed Ireland-Somaliland relations and explored opportunities to deepen trade linkages and exchange good practice in agriculture and fisheries.
Tweeting following the meeting, Ambassador Omar said: “Pleased to have met the Ireland Ambassador to Kenya, Somaliland/Somalia, Sudan and Eritrea, H.E Lisa Doherty and discussed ways to deepening trade linkages between Ireland and Somaliland as well as exchange good practices in Agriculture and Maritime Economy.”
Somaliland, officially the Republic of Somaliland, is a self-declared state, internationally considered to be an autonomous region of Somalia.
