Several reports have emerged of heavy airstrikes carried out last night, targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the Middle Jubba and Lower Shabelle regions, resulting in significant losses. The attacks targeted three centers where specially trained troops, including foreigners and Somalis, were stationed: on the outskirts of Jilib district in the Middle Jubba region, on the outskirts of Arbacow town, and in the Haway area of the Lower Shabelle region. According to information received, the airstrikes involved six missiles and resulted in a large number of casualties, particularly among foreign fighters, with reports suggesting over 200 members were killed. Additionally, senior Al-Shabaab officials, including Abu Jazaam, a Yemeni-born top commander, were reportedly among the casualties. Another attack reportedly destroyed the main explosives center of Al-Shabaab in the Tawakal area near Sablele district in the Lower Shabelle region. Other reports indicate that military storage facilities and locations where heavy weapons and ammunition were hidden were also destroyed in the villages of Biyamalow and Bulasheekh in the Lower Shabelle region. This airstrike is the latest in a series of attacks targeting Al-Shabaab’s bases and important centers in southern Somalia.
