EUCAP and Sweden will continue their joint support to Somaliland Coast Guard (SLCG) by conducting a five-week training in Berbera in November and December 2019. The upcoming training sessions were discussed on 5 November in a preparatory meeting between EUCAP and SLCG.
The training will be enabled by the Swedish contribution to SLCG in 2019 and the support provided by the EUCAP. Three experts from the Swedish Coast Guard will conduct the training together with EUCAP’s experts and advisors.
The sessions will focus on technical training on daily service, troubleshooting and repairing of the three fast boats (Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boats) donated by Sweden to SLCG in 2018. SAR (search and rescue), navigation, boat handling, and seamanship training will also be included in the training program.
