The President of Southwest state, Abdiasis Hassan Mohamed alias Laftagaren on Thursday commended Dervish forces and Somali National Army (SNA) that utterly defeated the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab.
He said that the fighting took place in settlements nearby Baidoa, the Somali troops killed many al-shabab fighters.
He said: “Today is a big day in which we forgot the problem that Al-shabab militants caused in Adan Yabal district against the Somali people who could not raise their heads. The Somali National Army (SNA) made something that they can forget. They killed many Al-shabab fighters. I commend the step that the Somali National Army (SNA) took. They are the ones who are ready to defend the Somali nation.”
The President called on the Somali populace to support and stand by the men and women in uniform who are ready to defend the Somali nation all the time.
He said: “Every Somali person, particularly the residents of Southwest state, they have a duty which is to dress the military uniform and take the arms and defend the people and the country.”
The remarks made by Southwest State President comes at a time when a fighting occurred in Burjeed settlement which is nearby Daynuunay in Baay region.
The fighting erupted between Somali troops backed by Dervish forces and Al-Shabab militants.
The Somali troops killed many al-shabab fighters including a senior leader who is a foreign national.
The President of Southwest state paid an inspection visit to Southwest state Dervish forces and units of Somali National Army (SNA) who are in the frontlines.
The Somali troops backed by Dervish forces killed 35 Al-shabab fighters including a senior leader who is a foreign by nationality in a successful operation.
The Somali troops wounded 60 Al-Shabab fighters while the corpses of Al-Shabab fighters were displayed in Biadoa.
