Somali Troops Liberate Al-Shabab militants from a settlement in El-dheer district

The Somali National Army (SNA) and local clan forces on Tuesday launched an assault against Al-shabab militants who were regrouping in a settlement that is under El-Dheer district in Galgudud region.

Reports say that the Somali troops engaged in a fierce fighting with Al-Shabab militants in Ali Tifow settlement where Al-shabab militants were stationed.

The Somali troops liberated Al-shabab militants from the settlement.

Local sources say that the Somali troops left El-Dheer district after they received information which indicated that Al-Shabab militants established bases in Ali Tifow settlement.

It is not clear the objective behind Al-shabab fighters who set up the bases in the settlement which lies North of El-Dheer district.

The Somali troops and Ma’awisley forces are in control of the settlement now.

Somali Federal Gov’t deployed the Somali troops in El-Dheer district after they mobilized them in Mogadishu.

The troops were intended to be part of operations which are aimed to flush out Al-Shabab fighters from East of Galguduud region.
