Reports from Mogadishu say that the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is expected to reshuffle country’s top brass Armed Forces.
It is reported that the Somali President made consultations the possibility of restructuring the Generals of Somali Armed Forces.
The President is looking for top Commanders who have a great experience regarding the war with Al-Shabab militants, and to bolster security particularly the capital Mogadishu.
Mortar attacks targeting parts of the capital were frequent in Mogadishu for the past couple of months.
Mr. Mahad Mohamed Salad who was once NISA Director is expected that the President will again appoint him as the new National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Director.
The President will also make changes to the Somali Military Command.
Reliable sources say that the President intends to reinstate Somali Army’s Force Commander.
Ex-Somali President Mohamed Abdilahi Farmajo replaced Somali Army Force Commander to the Commander of the Ground Forces.
President, Hassan Sheikh MOhamud is planning to appoint Ali Jeyte Osman as the new Somali National Army Force Commander.
General Mohamed Tahlil Bihi and General Abdiwahid Mohamed Dirir who held the positions of the Commander of the Ground Forces are expected to be appointed to military posts.
The Objective is to change the way the war with Al-Shabab militants is conducted, and the Somali army makes progress when it comes to operations which are aimed to flush out insurgents from the country.
Military operations against Al-Shabab militants are on the brink of failure after the militant group seized many areas which the Somali army liberated in parts of Hirshabelle state.
The Somali Army is doing all it its efforts to prevent Al-Shabab attacks and the expansion of the group to areas in East of Hirsshabelle.
The attacks in which the militant group seized new areas in Hirshabelle has become a scandal to the Somali Federal Gov’t.
NISA failed to get intelligence reports within Al-Shabab militants which might be possible to thwart the attacks against the Somali army.
Once the President makes the decision of the names to be appointed to the top brass of the Somali Armed Forces, he will submit to the cabinet ministers for approval.
Officials close to the office of the president say that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is planning to make broad restructure to the Somali Military Command, the Police Force and NISA.
The appointment is intended to smoothly organize the task of the army, planning operations and to strengthen the communication of the Somali army.
