The defense minister of Somali Federal Gov’t, Hon. Ahmed Ma’alin Fiqi on Monday held a high level meeting with Qatari state minister for defense, who is also the deputy Prime Minister, H.E Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. The current Somali defense minister is on an official working visit to Qatar.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen the military cooperation between the two countries. They also talked about ways to enhance the military capabilities and further explore areas of mutual cooperation.
Somali defense minister, Ahmed Ma’alin Fiqi expressed deep thanks and appreciations to the gov’t of Qatar for the constant support in the areas of security. He also lauded the role Qatar plays when it comes to the humanitarian support that it provides to Somalia.
Officials of the two ministries of defense of Qatar and Somalia were in attendance of the meeting, and strengthened the close bilateral ties between Qatar and Somalia in the areas of peace development and the security in the region.
