Reports say that Puntland Security forces who emanate from Sanaag province on Tuesday have withdrawn from the frontlines in Galgala, Afurur, and Bali Khadar which surround Al-Madow Mountains. The troops reached Awsane settlement in Sanaag province.

The security forces stated army mutiny and said that they have vacated from the frontlines. They have said that they want to join the liberation of Erigavo as they have put it. They also stated that their people have been displaced from Erigavo, Sanaag’s regional capital.

Reports received from the security forces and the officers pointed out that they were furious over a statement made by Puntland President, Saed Abdilahi Deni in which they interpreted that he was supporting Somaliland’s secession from Somalia.

They said that President Saed Deni did not talk about the dire situation that people hailing from Puntland that were displaced from Erigavo face.

The Security forces believe that President Saed Deni is strongly against their stance in which they want to invade Erigavo, Sanaag’s regional capital.

They said that he wants the situation to be peacefully resolved, and those who were displaced from their residences should return to their homes through a dialogue between Puntland and Somaliland.

Reports further indicate that the security forces staged the mutiny over unpaid salaries and the promises of financial money which was not fulfilled.

Reports say that this was part of the reason the troops have withdrawn from their defense positions. Efforts are underway to send the troops back to the frontlines.
