Representatives from Somaliland’s political parties convened a meeting on Thursday.
The gathering saw the attendance of country’s Vice President, Hon. Abdirahman Sayli of Kulmiye party, Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe from Justice & Welfare Party (UCID), and Mr. Abdirahman Irro of Wadani Party.
Ways to accelerate holding the upcoming joint parliamentary and local council polls was high on the agenda of the discussion.
The representatives from political parties have held a heated debate on issuing unified criteria for selecting the would be candidates for the upcoming parliament and local council elections in considerations to the electoral bill as well as the by laws of the parties.
The elections are due to take place as early as 2021.
It was last month when the country’s electoral commission conducted mock voter registration in Odweyne as well as Baligubadle.
