Somaliland President leaves for Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj

President Musa Bihi Abdi left for Saudi Arabia early this afternoon to perform holy hajj.

The President left Egal International Airport by a Chattered flight that the Saudi Monarch has sent to Somaliland. This is the first time that the incumbent president has traveled to Mecca to perform Hajj since his presidential election victory in 2017. The President has traveled with Somaliland diplomatic passport which the Saudi Arabian Kingdom has accepted as the conditions that he set. The honorable President will perform hajj as a royal guest at the invitation of the Saudi King. The President is accompanied by the minister for religious affairs, Shiekh Khalil Abdilahi Ahmed, the Home Affairs Minister, Mr. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed and the Public Works Minister, Mr. Abdirashid Du’ale Qambi. The ministers have also traveled to Mecca with Somaliland diplomatic passports. Government officials including the Vice President. Honorable Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail aka Sayli’i  and the presidential adviser, Mr. Ali Mohamed Waranade were at the airport to see off the delegation headed by Somaliland president. Once the incumbent president wraps up the Hajj rituals, he is due to hold first high level meeting with King of Saudi Arabia.
