Hargeisa regional court on Saturday has allowed Foore, a local paper in Somaliland to resume its operations and lifted its publication ban.
There was a one year suspension whilst the paper’s licence revoked after the gov accused it of publishing news articles that were staunchly against Somaliland statehood.
The Foore newspaper publishers filed the court ban verdict at the appellate court.
A lawyer, Mr. Mubarik Abdi Ismail, has said that having the court heard once again the suspension, it has decided to reverse the decision taken by the regional court and allowed the paper to resume its daily day operations.
Somaliland, a country which is not internationally recognized has poor record in regard to the protection of the freedom of the press.
