The Somali National Army (SNA) in conjunction with friends in the world carried out airstrikes and ground assaults targeting Al-Shabab militants in Masajid Ali Guduud in Middle Shabelle province.
An official statement from the gov’t of Somalia confirmed that 15 Al-Shabab fighters including a senior leader by the name of Bashir Ahmed Dhuhul who was known as Bashiir Caadle with in Al-Shabab circles.
The senior leader killed was responsible for spreading the extremist ideologies in Middle Shabelle province.
The statement went on to say that Mr. Bashiir Caadle was an active leader who took part in the mobilization and spreading the group’s extreme ideologies.
The government statement further said that the killing of senior Al-Shabab leader is a big blow to the militant group.
The killing of Al-Shabab fighters and senior leader comes at a time when the Somali troops and its allied militia have intensified its operations against Al-Shabab militants in Middle Shabelle province.
