Somali Police Boss Fires district police chief following the killing of two civilians

Somalia’s Police Force Commissioner, Abdi Hassan Mohamed “Hijar” had dismissed Boondheere district police chief Najib Arab following Friday night shooting.

The decision to fire the district police chief comes as hundreds of angry locals took to the streets in the capital Mogadishu on Sunday to demonstrate against the shooting of two unarmed civilians by policeman during night time curfew.

The government announced it revised of the curfew, said it will start at 8 pm instead of 7 pm to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

Somalia has seen a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases in recent days with the health ministry confirmed 328 plus deaths of 16 people from the pandemic
