Somali Gov’t Confirms killing ten Al-shabab fighters in Hiiraan province

The Somali Federal Gov’t on Saturday has provided details of operations amid fierce clashes that transpired in Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle provinces in which heavy defeat was inflicted on the militant group of Al-shabab.

The spokesman of the ministry of defense of the Somali Federal Gov’t, Sheikh Abukar Ma’alin who held a press conference in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital has provided details of the operations that took place today.

He revealed that major victories were reached by the Somali National Army (SNA) and the local defense forces known as Ma’awisley.

He announced the fierce clash that took place areas nearby Moqokori district in which Al-Shabab launched an attack; heavy defeat was inflicted on the militant group of Al-Shabab.

He confirmed that the Somali troops dislodged Al-Shabab fighters from Gumarre settlement which is under the authority of Moqokori district.

He said: “Al-Shabab tried to launch a last gasp attack on Gumarre settlement which is under the authority of Moqokori district in Hiiraan province. The fighting commenced on Saturday morning and lasted a few hours; heavy defeat was inflicted on the enemy.”

He said at least ten Al-Shabab fighters were killed while the allied troops are currently conducting operations which are aimed to beef up the security.

He said: “At least ten murderers were killed from the enemy. The Somali National Army (SNA) and the local defense forces are currently stationed in the settlement.”

He also spoke about operations that took place in Middle Shabelle province particularly in Guulane, Daaru-Nimo and Al-Kawsar settlements in which he told that Al-Shababfighters were targeted who were hiding in there.
