Somalia’s National Army backed by Southwest state forces on Thursday conducted security operation aimed at flushing out Al Shabab militants from Bay region in South Somalia.
The army carried out a meticulously pre-planned security operation targeting Al shabab militants in Awdinle district and nearby areas.
Military commander said that the army apprehended at least 4 Al Shabab elements.
The militants extorted money from the locals in Awdinle and nearby settlements.
The army conducted the operation after getting a tip-off from the locals and captured the militants.
The operation is still underway which is aimed at flushing out Al Qaeda affiliated terrorist organization from region.
