BADHAN– The president of Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland, Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gas yesterday laid the foundation stone to mark the commencement of construction works at Badhan airport.
The President was accompanied by deputy minister for civil aviation, and airports, Ms. Su’ad Saalah, Badhan airport manager, Musa Aden JIbril and staffers at Puntland presidency. The deputy minister in charge of airports said that the air strip of the airport needs to be fenced.
Puntland leader said that he was happy to lay the foundation stone of the terminal for staffers for the airport. Later, Abdiweli Gas inspected the ministries premises in Badhan. Bashan is part and parcel of Somaliland but it was the failure of Somaliland government to station its armed forces in eastern Sanaag. Dr. Abdiweli held his cabinet meeting in Badhan for the first time in the history of Somaliland.
