In a recent development, Jubaland authorities announced on Thursday that heavy damage has been inflicted on Al-Shabab fighters during intense clashes in the strategic coastal town of Kudhaa in the Lower Jubba region. Jubaland security forces, along with Danab Commandos, demonstrated their military might by destroying Al-Shabab’s combat vehicles and confiscating a large number of weapons. According to a press statement released by Jubaland authorities, the allied troops destroyed 10 combat vehicles mounted with heavy artillery, which were used by the group in their attack on Kudhaa. They also seized light weapons and a large cache of ammunition that the fleeing Al-Shabab fighters left behind. Additionally, the troops confiscated vehicles carrying military equipment and communication devices. The 24-hour-long battle resulted in a decisive victory for the gallant Jubaland security forces, who killed 59 Al-Shabab fighters and wounded 42 others in Kudhaa. The officers who led the operation stated that, in addition to showcasing the destroyed and seized combat vehicles and weapons, this victory sends a clear message that Al Shabab has been taught a hard lesson. They also mentioned that the enemy’s intentions were foiled after the allied troops surrounded Kudhaa, causing many of the group’s fighters to surrender easily. Jubaland authorities have confirmed that the seized weapons and military equipment will be used to maintain peace and ensure the well-being of Jubaland residents.
