Jubaland Deputy President Mohamud Sayid Adan held a meeting with Mandera regional governor. The two sides discussed border security and the movement of people.
Most of the discussion focused on strengthening the cooperation pertaining to finding a solution to the obstacles in the border posts and the concerted efforts which are aimed to fight against the militant group of Al-shabab.
The Deputy President Mohamud Sayid Adan disclosed that Jubaland regional administration is engaged a fierce fighting with Al-shabab.
He reiterated that they will not allow the militant to disrupt the trade in the border areas between Kenya and Somalia.
They reached a common understanding when it comes to the importance to expedite having working cooperation in the security in the border areas in order to maintain the stability in the border settlements and to prevent jointly the acts of insecurity that pose a threat to the lives of the residents in the settlements.
Al-Shabab carried out ambush attacks in Mandera and local traders were anxious over the deteriorating security situation and the movement of trade in Mandera. The gov’t of Kenya imposed curfews in a bid to thwart Al-Shabab attacks.
