High level U.S. Delegation, Somaliland president discuss ways to strengthen security and defense cooperation

A high level U.S. delegation led by U.S. Ambassador to Somalia, Hon. Richard Riley flanked by the Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) General Michael Langley and other top U.S. military officers and diplomats are on an official working visit to Hargeisa, Somaliland capital in order to strengthen the security and defense cooperation between the U.S. And Somaliland.

The U.S. Delegation held a high level meeting with the incumbent Somaliland President H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi alias Irro.

The two sides held a high level discussions on issues that are a priority for the mutual interests of the two countries.

The visit that the U.S. delegation embarked to Somaliland indicates that Somaliland is committed to consolidate the defense, security, and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Somaliland gov’t warmly welcomed the U.S. delegation’s visit to the port city of Berbera in order to assess the infrastructure necessary for strengthening the security and defense as the U.S. is committed to safeguard the stability in the region.

The gov’t of Somaliland expressed deep thanks and appreciations to U.S. gov’t for its constant efforts which are aimed at the peace and the stability in the Horn of Africa.

The gov’t of Somaliland is adamant to continue to strengthen the mutual cooperation between the two sides.
