The New UK Ambassador to Somalia, King Charles Nicholas yesterday arrived in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, and officially assumed the office of ambassadorship.
King Charles who was appointed to the post in Feb. 2025, replaced the outgoing ambassador, Nithavriankis who held the post since May, 2023.
He wrote on his twitter account and said:” The plane I was on board landed at Adden Adde Int’l Airport in Mogadishu. It was a great honor to start the new job as UK Ambassador to Somalia. I am hopeful that I will work with Somali staffers and to learn a lot from this wonderful country.”
King Charles is a diplomat by profession who is a member of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) since 2004. He previously held various important posts.
He was the Joint Head of Israeli/ occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTS) Gaza Task Force (2023-2024) overseeing the diplomatic efforts of the regional instability.
From 2020 to 2023, he served as Head of the Levent and North Africa Department and the UK Special Representative to Syria, shaping the British Policy in the Middle East.
