Somaliland Steps Up Fights Against Corruption

Somaliland has stepped up efforts to fight corruption within its institutions with the appointment and empowerment of a new chairman.

Dayib Adan Haji Ali, the new chairman of the Somaliland Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Commission (GGACC) assumed office stating he is up to the task in fighting corruption in the Horn of Africa nation.

“Somaliland will be an inhospitable place for corrupt individuals. I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from both the law enforcement and corporate background.

“ I need the support of all stakeholders, particularly the Office of the Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Commission, the Media sector and Citizens in general,” the new chairman said.

Somaliland president Muse Bihi Abdi is empowering  GGACC to start a new  campaign  against corruption in the country in order to get back the confidence of the people as the combat  of corruption

One of Bihi’s campaign pillar was to rid the self-declared independent country of corruption in public offices.

The Somaliland Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Commission (GGACC) was established to combat corruption practices and to advise and ascertain a good governance system in Somaliland.

The commission was established on August 26″, 2010 and approved by the Parliament in January 2013.
