Somalia, UK Governments Chair a meeting which discussed on the protection of society impacted by conflicts

Somalia and UK governments jointly chaired a high level meeting in London which was about the protection of communities affected by vulnerabilities and conflicts.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Somali Federal Gov’t, Salah Jama and UK Minister for Africa, Lord Collins were the two officials who presided over the high level meeting.

The meeting saw the attendance of delegations from governments, agencies, int’l organizations and researchers from various institutes and academic centers.

The meeting centered on the protection of communities. It is not only an emergency situation where there are problems, but it is pivotal to peace, community resilience and the state to flourish.

First Deputy Prime Minister said: “Today it is a high level council meeting for the protection of communities which are impacted by vulnerability and conflicts. It is the beginning of a responsibility that will continue for six months.”

Approximately three out of the fourth section of impoverished people in the world live in vulnerable situations plus problems which force them to flee from their homes and seek refuge.

The council stated in the statement that when floods, storms, droughts occur and conflicts erupt. While disasters destroy the way of living, protection of the community become the first for the community to protect.

This will facilitate to find a local solution which will have an impact and allow vulnerable communities to face, to be saved, to recover from problems and to rebuild their life while remaining the place which reduce the need for humanitarian aid.
