Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has received Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, who is also the Special Representative to Africa and the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov.
The meeting focused on strengthening the diplomatic ties between Russia and Somalia.
The two sides discussed ways to broaden the cooperation in the areas of politics, trade and security.
Somali President confirmed that Somalia is committed to consolidate ties with Russia and at the same time welcome the role that Russia could play when it comes to the rebuilding of the country, promote economic development and strengthening the security.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Bogdanov reiterated that Russia is ready to support the peace efforts in Somalia, the reform of security agencies and the promotion of economic growth.
During the meeting, Bogdanov has submitted an official invitation to Somali President in which Russian President, Vladimir Putin invited President Hassan to attend Russia-Arab States Summit.
The meeting will focus on regional issues and the consolidation of ties between Russia and Arab states.
President Hassan expressed deep thanks and appreciations to Russian President.
He promised to attend the meeting which will discuss issues pertaining on peace, security and the regional developments.
The two sides also discussed the situation in the region in general, peace building, cooperation on the fight against terrorism and respecting the int’l law and Somalia’s territorial integrity.
