Somali’s military captured a senior al-shabab militant in the Lower Shabele region, the ministry information said on Tuesday.
The elite 1st Danab Advanced Infantry Battalion conducted an operation that led in the capture of a high profile senior al-shabab member in the vicinity of Wanlewayn.
This operation was a massive win for the Federal Government of Somalia.
The militant was identified as Ibrahim Mohamed Robleh who operated in the region.
Wanlewayn, is located 90 km (55 miles) southwest of the capital of Mogadishu.
US African Command also confirmed the operation and said: “This successful operation, led by our Somali partners, demonstrates progress.”
