Ground Forces Commander of the Somali National Army, General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, arrived in Dhuusamareb, the administrative seat of Galmudug state, where he held a high-level security meeting with army officers in a bid to accelerate anti-Al-Shabab operations.
Upon arrival at Ugaas Noor Airport, the Land Forces Commander was greeted by the commanders of the 21st Division of the Somali National Army and later was escorted to the Military Command Center in Dhuusamareb, where he held a significant meeting with the officers.
The meeting focused on speeding up the anti-Al-Shabab operations which are ongoing in areas in Galmudug state, enhancing the army coordination and upgrading the duties of the Somali National Army in order to tighten the security and to capitalize on the gains so far achieved in the fight against Al-Shabab.
The new operations are part of the ongoing constant efforts made by the Somali government and the Somali National Army which are aimed in the eradication of Al-Shabab, the liberation of areas under the control of Al-Shabab, and maintaining the security of areas where Al-Shabab fighters were flushed out.
The Somali government said that these accelerated operations will continue until lasting security and stability are achieved.
