MOGADISHU– Somali Air Force (SAF), which is part of Somalia’s armed forces on Saturday marked its 65 anniversary establishment.
The Somali gov’t officials and heads of armed forces sent congratulatory messages to the Somali Air Force for celebrating its establishment.
Officials said that it was quite important to rebuild SAF. They further stated that the Air Force must have the necessary equipment in order to defend the country.
SAF came into being in 1960 and played a huge role during the wars between Somalia and Ethiopia in 1964 and 1977.
The UN Security Council recently lifted an arms embargo from Somalia and it is now committed to rebuild and bring the necessary equipment to have robust Air Force.
