Reports from Middle Shabelle province say that tension is running high for the second day running in Masaajid Ali Guduud after rival forces within Al-shabab militants clashed.

Reports further say that rival forces clashed within the settlement where the militant group seized Masaajid Ali Guduud on the 26th of March, 2025.

Local residents came to know that the tension is between two Al-Shabab leaders after they accused each other of who is behind the failed attack that the militant group of Al-Shabab launched on Wargaadhi settlement which is 70 km away from Addale district.

Al-Shabab began the attack on Wargaadhi settlement with explosions.

The Somali troops retreated but immediately launched counter offensive and retook Wargaadhi settlement.

Al-shabab militants fled from the area after Somali troops carried out a ground assault while airstrikes supported the offensive against the militant group of Al-Shabab.

Al-shabab militants encountered the biggest defeat ever since the group carried out attacks in which they expanded the control of areas in the East of Shabelle province.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Abuukar Ma’alin Mohamud who spoke to the media told that armed Al-shabab rival forces are stationed in Masaajid Ali Guduud.

The tension is between two Al-Shabab rival leaders named Abdulle Ali Araye and Suleiman.

He said: “The murderers named Abdulle Ali Araye and Suleiman who is an aide of Kaba Kutukade argued who was responsible for the failed attack on Wargaadhi.”

Mr. Yusuf Isse Kaba Kutukade is the governor of the militant group of Al-Shabab in Middle Shabelle province.

It is first time that rival fighters within Al-Shabab clashed in the East of Shabelle province since 20th Feb. when the militant group of Al-Shabab reinforced their presence in the region.
