Puntland confirms that ISIS leader escapes unharmed from Al-Miskaad Mountain range

Somalia’s autonomous region of Puntland on Monday has revealed details regarding ISIS leader in Somalia, Abdulkadir Mumin who has been hiding in the mountainous areas in Bari region.

As confirmed by the spokesman of Hillac operations, General Mohamud Ahmed Fadhigo; Abdulkadir Mumin, the ISIS leader in Somalia has escaped unharmed from Al-Miskaad Mountain range in Bari region where large scale operations that Puntlland defense forces conducted in conjunction with int’l partners.

Mr. Fadhigo has cited the reason that ISIS leader has escaped is associated with the large scale operations that are underway in the area. He further disclosed that Puntland authority received intelligence reports from the world pertaining the escape of ISIS leader.

He promised that they will continue the operations which are aimed to flush out ISIS remnants from Al-Miskaad Mountain range. He reiterated that the deputy ISIS leader in Somalia, Mr. Abdirahman Faahiye Isse Mohamud is currently based in the region who is also the head of operations.

He said that he is currently hiding in Al-Miskaad Mountain range in Bari region. Puntland previously confirmed that its defense forces have taken control 98 percent of Al-Miskaad mountain range after Puntland defense forces conducted airstrikes and ground offensives against ISIS militants for the past six months.

Tension is running high, and Puntland troops are currently pursuing ISIS remnants. They captured ISIS fighters alive including foreign fighters that were fighting alongside ISIS. Among those ISIS fighters who was captured is a Turkish national who was apprehended while armed with AK47.
