Barry lived in Somaliland for three years as a child and in this interview he recounts some of his memories of what was a fond time living in Borama, Hargeisa and Berbera. He also visited Saylac and other towns in Somaliland. His father worked in construction and his job was to oversee construction projects of schools, health centres etc. in these places. Despite it being over 60 years since his visit, Barry still remembers the different places and faces he saw and regularly searches for news and pictures of Somaliland. His memories are an interesting glimpse into life there many years ago and it was a pleasure to meet someone who spent time in my homeland many years before me.
