Reports from Barawe town in Lower Shabelle province say that a landmine explosion occurred that resulted deaths and injuries.
Reports indicate that two people were confirmed dead while two others were wounded. There are other reports that say that 4 people were wounded in the landmine blast. The landmine explosion occurred in the outskirts of the airport in Barawe town.
The two people who were wounded by the landmine blast are currently receiving medical treatments in medical centers in Baraowe town in Lower Shabelle province.
Initial reports say that the landmine explosion targeted a vehicle which was heading to the airport and was due to transport Khat to the town.
No group has claimed the responsibility of carrying out the attack, but it is believed that similar attacks were conducted by the militant group of Al-shabab.
Security forces in Barawe district reached the site of the explosion and launched an investigation immediately regarding the landmine explosion. The security agencies have not given details of the explosion and the number of casualties.
