Unknown warplanes dropped warning leaflets on Friday in Jilib district, the capital of the Middle Jubba region. The leaflets were aimed at local residents and cautioned them to avoid areas where Al-Shabab militants are known to operate. This is a signal that a military operation against Al-Shabab is imminent. In order to ensure the well-being of the residents, they were urged to stay away from areas where the militant group is based. This comes just hours after warplanes belonging to international partners conducted airstrikes in Jamame district in the Lower Jubba region and its surrounding areas. This follows a similar airstrike conducted by the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) forces, in collaboration with international partners, in Bua’ale town on Thursday, targeting a high-level meeting of senior Al-Shabab leaders. The distribution of these warning leaflets highlights the ongoing military strategy to minimize civilian casualties while intensifying the fight against Al-Shabaab.
