Mogadishu- The United States embassy in Mogadishu on Sunday has dismissed reports about the embassy’s withdrawal of essential staff due to security concerns.
The embassy has issued an official statement and claimed that the reports are untrue.
The refutation from the embassy in Mogadishu coincides after Puntland official yesterday said that the U.S. embassy withdrew its staff from Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
The Minister responsible for information of Puntland, Mr. Mohamud Dirir stated that Mogadishu airport has become a frontline,
It was recent when U.S. embassy issued a security alert where attacks were imminent and to be carried out in major areas in Mogadishu including Adden Adde airport.
The embassy previously suspended trips that the staff were to embark while U.S. citizens were banned from travelling to Somalia.
The US embassy further stated in the security alert that the terrorist organizations were planning to carry out explosions and attacks, citing the security situation in Somalia is deteriorating.
